It’s crucial to factor in time and legal fees if It’s crucial to factor in time and legal fees if you’re considering taking legal action. Many clients come to me wanting to try mediation after they’ve exhausted their finances and feel no farther ahead than when they began.

Some questions you can ask a lawyer:

❔Is this something I’m clearly entitled to in law or is this something I may not be awarded?
❔What’s a worst case scenario of estimated legal fees?
❔Do you have experience in conflict resolution?
❔What’s the worst case scenario of the estimated time this may take if I fight for this?
❔If I don’t want to pursue this matter how much would my settlement be and what would legal fees be?

Get informed about the exactly what you’re agreeing to before you pay that first retainer fee. Not every lawyer will be a good fit for you and your situation.
I aim to offer a balance of family law information I aim to offer a balance of family law information and caring conflict resolution into each mediation session. There is business to be done, but it is also a very emotional and sensitive time. Thank you to this client for their thoughtful testimonial.

Extraordinary expenses can be a real source of con Extraordinary expenses can be a real source of confusion, and potential conflict for co-parents. A well-negotiated, detailed agreement can avoid arguments.

In mediation, I assist clients to discuss and agree to:
✔ What the expenses are
✔ Who is responsible to pay for them, and for what portion
✔ How and when reimbursement will happen
✔ How to agree to new expenses as they arise

If you're newly separating it's crucial to get as much detail as possible on this topic.

If you already have an agreement in place but find it's vague, both parties can agree to attend mediation to discuss the matter.

30 minute, no-fee consultations.
